Prenatal Care

I provide all of your prenatal care in your home. As a homebirth-based midwifery practice, I believe that home visits deepen the relationship with my clients. Each prenatal visit lasts from 45 minutes to one hour, and during this time, we check on you, your baby, how your family is adjusting, and discuss your questions without ever rushing our time together. I often personalize your care to see you more often if this is your first baby or first birth out of hospital, or on a schedule that better fits your lifestyle.

Birth Care

I am available to be present at your labor whenever you want support and not at some pre-defined stage. I will obtain vital signs initially and regularly as labor progresses. The baby’s heart tones are monitored throughout the course of labor and more frequently as the birth approaches. I will speak extensively throughout your prenatal care about how you envision your birth and personalize it to your desires. I believe that birth is a sacred time, and honor your space and needs in any given moment. I bring all of the equipment I would need, including comfort measure tools, IV fluids, medications for birth complications, suturing equipment, and more.

Immediate Postpartum

I stay with your family up to four hours following the birth. Both mother and baby’s vitals will be monitored on a regular basis, but my priority is always time for your family and your new baby to bond. During the first hour, you are encouraged to soak up the sight of your little one, initiate breastfeeding, and remain skin to skin 100% of the time. Before I tuck you into your bed, I do a head-to-toe newborn exam to ensure that your baby is healthy. We also provide breastfeeding support and newborn care tips and tricks.

Postpartum Care

Birth is only the beginning of your journey and story, and many of us need extra support during the days following the birth of your baby. Postpartum recovery is important, we'll discuss yours and your baby's well-being at several intervals after your birth to make sure that everything (physical, mental, and emotionally) is healing well. Care looks like home visits on Day 1, Week 2, week 4, and Week 6 as well as additional visits as needed. Newborn screens for heart problems, and hearing and metabolic disorders are accomplished in the comfort of your home. Assistance with breastfeeding, baby weight checks, and emotional and physical support in answering any questions you may have are all part of my goal to support you and your baby in healthy development.
